Helping Hands
St. Matthew’s, Kosciusko, Contributes to Holiday Treats
Every year, during the week preceding Thanksgiving, the churches of Kosciusko join together in offering up a bountiful feast to the community. Each church is asked to prepare a particular course to serve for the mid-day lunch. While the event is called “Holiday Tastings”, attendees leave with full stomachs and ideas for new holiday food favorites.
All proceeds from the tickets to the event go to benefit the Helping Hands Ministries of Attala County. Helping Hands supplies food and other household items to Attala County residents in need.
This year St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Kosciusko prepared a table of desserts. Parishioners prepared some of their holiday favorites and several of the cooks volunteered to serve the items during the lunch, including new parishioner and current president of Helping Hands Ministries, Mary Al Alford.
The Helping Hands Ministries is one of St. Matthew’s largest outreach missions by supplying funds, food and volunteers on a regular basis. The Holiday Tasting Lunch raised over $5000 for the Helping Hands organization.
